Beauty pick of the week - "Monica" Dolce and Gabanna

I'm a huge fan of Monica Belluci, she's so beautiful. I still remember the first time I was known of her was during my photography class when she was a muse to this famous photography of whose name I can't recall. Anyways, today she's the face of Dolce and Gabanna and this ad campaign was just sent out! I thought she looked stunning even in the age of 47 so I posted it up! The collection is called "Monica". The gorgeous italian beauty quoted "Lipstick is the most valuable weapon in a woman's makeup kit" which I completely agree upon! A new lipstick and lip color just changes the way one feels and/or even looks!

Trend: Global Holiday!

GLOBAL loving beyond NewYork.
I think everyone would be off on their holiday within the next few weeks! The whole "global" idea has definitely influenced our designers and personal style! When styling out for that holiday look - I don't mean London, Paris, NewYork... Think beyond that! Your exotic locations like Africa, India, Bali, Brazil, etc.
When you think of Africa, think of the big bold triangular prints and vibrant colors or say India, think their classic print - the paisley! Exotic prints, think big and bold. If you actually like this look but aren't so big on the vibrant hues, tone it down a few notches pairing it with a more subtle choice. I've also posted a few selected pieces below and a few images off tumblr for inspiration.

1. Orange woven printed shorts - Giambattista Valli
2. Loafers - Cobra Society
3. Paisley Wedges - ETRO
4. Brown woven shoulder bag - Chloe
5. Printed Swimsuit - ETRO
6. Scarf paneled top - Elizabeth and James
7. Graphic paisley printed dress - Topshop

Beauty pick of the week: The Hey Sailor! Lipstick

Okay so I'm completely obsessed with makeup! Many told me I should start video tutorials but it's just not me. So I thought I should share a beauty product every week and let you all know what I think of it!
So my pick of this week is the Hey Sailor! Lipstick from M.A.C. I think this color is amazing its called the Red Racer! and it's perfect for the summer! I don't really like lipsticks that are too creamy. However this one isn't and  it's perfect for a casual day at the mall and goes with everything!

CFDA Awards

The awards this year had marked the 50th anniversary of the CFDA. The ceremony kicked off with a fashion show at the Lincoln Centre's Alice Tully Hall. The event was hosted by the Seth Meyers who sported the memorable black lace dress from Marc Jacobs and started off by quoting "Fashion people like hating things more than liking things, so I win either way" I think this one would be going in my collection of fashion quotes and it just cracked me up! Being a fashion student I've actually always see this happen we just always find it rare that people actually appreciate things and its always mostly about criticizing one. But oh well, people can never change it. Moving on-

The winners for the evening were :
Womenswear designer of the year: Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen for The Row
Menswear designer of the year: Billy Reid
Accessory designer of the year: Reed Krakoff
Swarovski award for womenswear: Joesph Altuzarra
Swarovski award for menswear: Plillip Lim
Swarovski award for accessory design: Tabitha Simmons
Geoffrey Beene lifetime achievement award: Tommy Hilfiger
International award: Rei Kawakubo for Comme des Garçons
Media award: Scott Schuman and Garance Dore
Founders award: Andrew Rosen
Fashion icon award : Johnny Depp

I also went through some off the redcarpet looks today morning! Here are the ones I loved:

Oslen twins!

Joan Smalls in Michael Kors
Candice Swanepoel in Valentino with Brian Atwood shoes.
Zoe Saldana in Prabal Gurung, with the designer, in custome Antonio Azzuolo
Julianne Hough in Kaufman Franco

Trend: Summer Blazing

Time for you to ditch that plain black / white blazer dolls!  Leave it with the classics and embrace the vibrant hues this summer! I spotted this trend when tumblring around and it looks pretty smart and you could always wear it to work rather than your plain black blazer or could wear it on your night out with your girls! Here's a few personal picks I loved!

The Powerpuff Girls Fashion Show

So yesterday I attended the Power puff girls fashion show at the Fashion Avenue in Dubai Mall. It was a lovely event! Enjoyed every bit of it (maybe cause' I was with my girls).
The idea to this event had been initiated by The Turner Company and Cartoon Network Arabia and they had been supported by Swarovski, Elements, Hamleys, Dubai Mall, Splash and last but not the least - Heriot Watt University.
The students of Heriot Watt University had been working on this project ever since September last year with the idea of designing t'shirts and it was taken into a whole other level this year in January with the idea of creating Power puff girls inspired looks that are street-wear and avant garde. And not to forget the event was hosted and mentored throughout by their brand ambassadors -
Timeout Dubai's DJ of the year and TV presenter - DJ BLISS and also the lovely TV and Radio presenter - Simone Heng.
Last evening I got to see lots of different kinds of designs on the runway and most of them following out the Spring/Summer 2012 trends. Everything was very "cartoony" and the looks were almost whimsical and quirky and they definitely got the NEON on!
Congratulations to all the winners last night! You all very well deserved it!
